The winter months are the time for planning. Take time to plan and sketch any areas you plan to plant this year. Follow this plan and begin to order any plants or seeds you will need to complete your gardens. This is also a great time of year to make cutting from outdoor plants for indoor arrangements.
- Inspect your trees and shrubs to identify over wintering scale insects
- Identify any winter damaged or broken branches that need to be pruned. These problems are easily identified when plants have no leaves on the branches.
- Take care of any tree removals. Arborist services are usually more economical during these off-season months.
- Be careful off salt used to de-ice walkways near planting beds. This salt can be toxic to plants.
- Try to remove any heavy snow on evergreen shrubs or trees. This will reduce the chance of breakage.
- Begin to contact a Certified Nursery and Landscape professional to schedule your spring landscape needs.
